Leader of the Pack
Wolves carry a special symbolism in Indigenous communities, as well as many other cultures, due to their pack mentality and instinctual system of working together for survival.

Like humans, wolves form lifelong bonds.

Wolves have evolved to understand that their chances of survival are increased when they work together, rather than alone. Each member has an important role to fill in maintaining the pack. The hierarchy of the pack is fluid, but usually led by an Alpha wolf, often a male/female Alpha pair, who decide hunting and territorial strategies.

Indigenous artist, Micqaela Jones has captured the loyal spirit of the wolf in her original and evocative design, “Alpha”.
The Alpha wolf journal is a 5inch x inch hardback notebook with 80 lined pages to inspire you.
Jones’ Alpha Wolf arrests the eye with its unwavering gaze. Her artwork is characterized by vivid colour, powerful imagery, and strong lines. She portrays the spirituality of nature with texture and emotion in bold, contemporary hues of turquoise and gold.

About the Artist:

Micqaela Jones is an acclaimed artist and member of the Temoak Tribe of Western Shoshone. The great-great granddaughter of Chief TuTuWa of the Tosa Wihi Shoshone Tribe, she grew up on the Duck Valley Indian Reservation on the Nevada-Idaho border. Her childhood was nature- filled and surrounded by artistic influences and artisanship. She started her career in Utah in the early ’00’s, when a gallery owner began showing and selling her paintings. Soon, she was showing her work and exhibiting in shows all across the United States.

In her own words:

“My work has evolved into a true intertwining of my culture as a Native American person with the modern contemporary world around me. The results are paintings that are traditional in their subject matter but truly stylized in their approach, with vivid colours, layers, and textures that draw the viewer in.”
